- I heard you on the aniemnewsnetwork podcast and wandered over here (see guest hosting works! lol). I've been quite enjoying your episodes so far. I plan on going through them all (I have lots of time to listen to podcasts at work). I also apprettiate getting good book recomendations geared to a more adult palette. At 27 I'm finding less and less manga that interest me so finding a good place to get recomendations is rare.
Anyways, I loved the One Piece episode. I've been into One Piece since highschool when a Japanese exchange student brought over a shonen jump from around the Usop arc (I'm super old school I guess lol). My friends and I got the bootleg (I know I know... but it was the only thing out back then we could obtain). We were instantly hooked. It was years before anyone knew what we were so excited about!
You guys had some really insightful things to say and its inspired me to get back into the anime where I left off (the Skypia arc). I think the domestic release has finally reached there now...
Do you guys take requests? I'd love to see a discussion on Tramps Like Us. There's so many fascinating things going on in that manga with gender relations. A show about the Kodocha manga would be great too (it's out of print now though). - Hello Ed, I was a first time listener two days ago when this episode was released and since then I had went back and listen to your other past shows and even read what you wrote for manga worth reading. I have to say, I really love your podcast. Manga is a large part of my life, so I love how this podcast is so insightful; I learn so many new things. Also it great that you talk about great series such as Mushishi, To Terra and manga that is by Urasawa or Tezuka but still read and review shonen such as One Piece and Bakuman. I find that a lot of people look down on shonen series and I wish those people will listen to this episode on One Piece and know that there is some shonen series that have meaningful message in them. Thank you for this great podcast and I look forward to more. One last thing; on a past episode of ANNcast when you were a special guest with Deb, you mention you don’t think any person under twenty read your blog, well I only 18.
